We are proud to ascertain that the European Commission’s new study on contractual practices affecting authors and performers makes multiple references to Streams and Dreams Part 2, IAO’s groundbreaking report on the realities artists face in the streaming economy.
This is a clear sign that artist-led research is being heard. Based on input from over 9,500 artists across Europe, Streams and Dreams sheds light on imbalances in income, lack of transparency, and the urgent need for fairer streaming models. The Commission’s report, with the last update published in March 2025, acknowledges the significance of the data and insights contributed through IAO’s collaboration with AEPO-ARTIS and researcher Daniel Johansson. It confirms the growing influence of artist voices in shaping future copyright and remuneration policy at the EU level.
